A member of the Illiciaceae family, anise is native to China and southeast Asia. Most Anise essential oil is steam distilled and produced in China.
Anise essential oil is FCC grade and is pale yellow and clear in color. Its warm, spicy odor will remind you immediately of licorice. Use in small quantites as its scent is quite persistant and works well to mask odors. Hunters and fishermen use a soap and lotion made with anise to mask their scent -- or to help deodorize hands after a fish cleaning session.
Anise essential oil is purported to have a therapeutic effect on muscular and joint aches and pains.
